Peggy Berg was elected treasurer of Little Creek Farm Conservancy in 2016. During her service to date, LCFC assets more than doubled from $38,883 to $80,596. Banking relationships have been renegotiated to much more favorable terms. The organization has produced detailed annual reports both for complete transparency and to promote the organization. Books and records have been moved into Quickbooks and up-to-date financial information is available on request. She moved LCFC from cash-only to credit card payments during events, increasing revenues. Tax receipts have been standardized and tax reporting and annual registrations are completed well in advance of deadlines. Under her guidance, LCFC has applied for and received Park Pride funds. The County has been provided detailed information to support capital project requests and other shared initiatives. As treasurer, Peggy has been an active part of the leadership team for LCFC events and projects.
Peggy is a Certified Public Accountant with experience as a partner in an international CPA firm. She currently heads the Castell Project, a non-profit advancing women in leadership in the hospitality industry. Her prior professional roles have been as president of a national consulting firm, a hotel owner and franchisee of Hilton and Choice. Experienced in the non-profit sector, Peggy is chairman emeritus of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants. For the American Hotel and Lodging Association, she chaired the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association, founded the Extended-Stay Council, and co-chaired the Council of Inns & Suites. She was the treasurer of the Virginia-Highland Civic Association for 5 years. She currently serves on advisory boards for Georgia State University and Michigan State University.
She holds a BS in Business from the School of Hospitality at Michigan State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgia Tech.
Believe, a mare at Little Creek and volunteer for Stride Ahead, is half Peggy’s horse. Peggy and her husband, Randy Starnes, live in Atlanta, Georgia. They have two sons; Brian is a SCUBA instructor in Sardinia and Thailand. Carson works in sustainability in Atlanta.
